Besök i Merrellfabriken...

Julafton kom tidigt i år... Idag var jag på besök hos Merrell och fick lite nytt att testa inför 2016. Utöver testdojor så fick jag lite förhandstitt på vad som kommer under hösten 2016. Under vintern kommer vi testa Merrell Allout Ice - Allout Ice har överdel i mesh och TPU. Den har volframkarbidspikar med tåhätta i kolfibergranit för grepp på is. Drop på 6 mm / 16 mm dämpning och 24 mm stapelhöjd. Mönsterdjupet är 6 mm.

Jag tror att Terra Ice kommer att bli en perfekt Sandsjöbackasko under vintern. Men....skon som jag är riktigt sugen på...den sko jag tror blir 2016 års swimrunsko är......tadadadad...... Merrell Allout Crush Light. Jag fick med mig skon hem idag...den är lätt - flexig - dränerar bra - ny mjuk gummiblandning.... kort sagt....den ser fantastisk ut!! Kommer ut i vår!

So many trail shoes. So little time. And now there is another shoe I want to put into the mix. The Merrell All Out Crush is light, soft, and super flexible.

I’m a sucker for flexible shoes, you know, the type that can be folded in half. Even though the shoe will not flex like that when it’s on foot, this type of flexibility always delivers a great feel for me. I think the hyper flexibility allows the shoe to be very dynamic and adaptable to different surfaces. It also results in a smooth ride.

Beyond the flexibility, the All Out Crush has a very tactile rubber outsole with a lug depth of 5mm. It should perform well on loose dirt, soft trails, mud and has the range to work on hard packed trails and rocks. A TrailProtect pad will help protect the foot, but I would be surprised if it has enough protection for gnarly, rock-filled trails.

The lightweight upper is very airy because the bulk of the mesh upper has no barrier to air. Water will get in easily but will also get pushed out and the upper will dry quickly. Another feature of the upper is a TPU “cage” pattern which adds durability and makes the shoe easy to clean.

Add the 6mm offset to the flexible sole and soft foam, and you’ve got a very well-balanced, smooth-riding, do-almost-anything, light weight trail shoe.
